SILIPENA
After 12 years on
the Freeholder Board and eight years before that as Mayor of Egg Harbor City,
Joe Silipena will retire from elective politics and will not seek re-election
this year.
As Chairman of the
Freeholder Board, Silipena led with dignity and displayed professionalism
and respect towards all. He set the tone which led to as much civility as
is possible in this intense political era that exists today.
Silipena will be
missed. He is a gentleman in what has become an increasingly nasty political
arena.
This opens up a
Freeholder at Large seat in the upcoming election season. Silipena is one of
only few Atlantic County Republicans to be able to win District wide
over the past 3 years.
Silipena will
visit on-air tomorrow (Friday, February 1, 2008) on "Hurley in the
Morning" WIBG 1020 Radio. This will be Silipena's first
interview/appearance on this topic. The interview will begin sometime
between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.
