Levinson Unveils Guide to Services and Other Initiatives
During County Government Day Celebration
"Atlantic County government provides a wide range of services to the public, but they serve no use if people are unaware of their existence and fail to take advantage of them," stated Levinson. "This 56-page booklet serves as yet another resource to identify and locate appropriate county services. In combination with the county Web site, the Atlantic County 2-1-1 call center and the many county publications and press releases, we aim to make our programs common knowledge to all."
Levinson noted that the Guide to Services was produced entirely in house, including the design and printing, in approximately three months. Several county employees worked on this project in addition to their regular responsibilities. An initial 1,000 booklets have been printed with a second printing planned for next week. Copies will be made available at county facilities, including library branches and senior centers.
In addition to the Guide to Services, the county executive also announced that Atlantic County will host an environmental conference on September 15 at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey from 10 AM to 4 PM, in cooperation with the college and the Atlantic County Utilities Authority.
The county is partnering with local high schools as part of "G.Tube," a student/government educational partnership. Students from Absegami, CharterTech, Egg Harbor Township and Oakcrest high schools are currently working on public service announcements for county
programs. The students are responsible for writing the scripts, filming and editing to produce the final 60-90 second videos which the county hopes to air on local channels beginning this summer.
In conclusion Levinson reminded residents about the upcoming Atlantic County Veterans Service Medal ceremony to be held on Saturday, June 2 at Oakcrest High School in Mays Landing. At that time, Levinson will present the newly created medal to the county’s military heroes in recognition of their sacrifice and service. Those who choose not to participate in the ceremony will receive their medals by mail after June 2.
