Joe McDevitt for Freeholder At Large

McDevitt2007.com

Dear Friend,

I am writing this note to inform you that I am running for the at large seat on the Atlantic County Board of Freeholders. I am seeking your support since I will need the help of all my friends and associates if I am to be successful in November.

Community service has always been a priority for me, from teaching in public schools to coaching youth teams.  In these activities, I have done my best to better others.  Now, I want to extend this commitment to the entire county.

In fact, to emphasize my commitment, I have already pledged to donate my first year’s salary to charity and forgo my freeholder’s pension, if I am elected.  I want people to know that service to the people of Atlantic County is my one and only goal.

Right now Atlantic County is the envy of other counties in New Jersey.  County taxes are down, we have saved more open space than ever and our county services are unequaled.  This did not happen by accident, it happened under the excellent leadership of County Executive Dennis Levinson and Freeholder Chairman Joe Silipena.

As your Freeholder, I will work with them to continue to keep our taxes low and our county services the best in the state.  This is what our residents expect and deserve in Atlantic County.

I also believe freeholders are more than just managers of the public’s county tax dollars,  they are community leaders.  They are advocates for what is important to the public.  If it means drawing the attention of the state or federal government to a local problem, then that is a freeholder’s job.

I believe friends and associates like you already know that I will use my freeholder seat to voice the concerns of my constituents, to speak out on their behalf and take action to assist them in any way I can.  I will be an open and accessible elected official, who knows how to listen as well as speak.

Of course we all know that campaigns cost money. While you already know me, there are over 130,000 registered voters in Atlantic County; unfortunately many of them do not know me.  I need to introduce myself to them and get my message out to them.  I will be out there campaigning and working hard to get elected but will I also need funds that will be used for brochures and ads.

I need to raise $25,000 over the next six weeks to pay for the necessary costs involved in communicating my positive message to the people of this county … and I hope I can count on you to assist me in this effort.

Please consider contributing to my campaign. Your contribution of $500, $250, $100, $50, $25 or an amount you are able to contribute will go a long way to help me succeed in raising the funds I need to get my message out to the voters. I have enclosed a reply card and an envelope for your convenience.

Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,   Joseph (MICO) McDevitt
