Camden, NJ-
Retired Atlantic City Police Chief, William R. Glass, prevailed in United States District Court on June 14, 2007 before U.S. Judge Jerome B. Simandle.
Deputy Chief Glass has made a claim against Former Atlantic City Police Chief, Arthur Snellbaker, and the City of Atlantic City for acts of retaliation including but not limited to, violations of his 1st Amendment rights of protected speech and associations, violations of NJ Contact and Common Law, and violations of his employment contract with the city of Atlantic City.
In a 25 page opinion and subsequent Order, Judge Simandle denied the efforts of former Chief Snellbaker and the city of Atlantic City to dismiss, by way of Summary Judgement, the multi-count complaint filed by Deputy Chief Glass.
Glass has claimed that he suffered retaliation in his employment as a Deputy Chief within the Atlantic City Police Department, due to his participation in protected police activities, in violation of his associational rights under 1st Amendment and New Jersey Law.
Deputy Chief Glass further claims that Snellbaker and the city of Atlantic City purposefully and adversely affected his career path of 23 years of dealing with the most dangerous and high profile police operations in retaliation of the Plaintiff, Chief Glass, participating in protected activity in support of his union and his members.
Deputy Chief Glass was represented by his Attorney , Michelle J. Douglass, Esq. of Linwood, NJ, while Snellbaker was represented by Salvatore Perillo, Esq. of Ocean City, NJ and Karen Williams, Esq. represented the city of Atlantic City.
