I want to take this
opportunity to thank Neill Borowski, Executive Editor &
Content Director for issuing a public clarification today regarding the recent
The Press of Atlantic City coverage of the Hurley in the Morning
Golf Open Charity.
It was my strong
belief that the July 7, 2010 article (particularly the headline) left the reader
with a negative, false impression regarding our charity efforts.
In today's print and
online editions, The Press sets the record straight that we were not sanctioned
by the state. The consent order we agreed to was merely for amicable settlement
purposes only.
I have spent the past
several weeks in very positive discussions with Neill Borowski to work out
a clarification that would successfully resolve the matter.
Neill was a gentleman
throughout our discussions.
I also want to thank
my attorney, Paul D'Amato for his assistance. As always, Paul is a great
and trusted friend. Following Paul's initial contact, Neill and I were able to
get together and mutually resolve the situation.
This was very
important to me, because I did not want you to get the wrong impression about
our honorable work.
I am also pleased to
confirm that on the day The Press article ran, we were able to raise $ 11,035 in
a four hour (7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.) on-air "HurleyThon" as a show of
public support for our efforts to date.
This unexpected
fundraising bonanza has set us on a path for a record 4th Annual Hurley
in the Morning Golf Open, Presented by Martin and Sheila
O'Boyle slated for Friday, June 17, 2011 at The Mays Landing Golf and
Country Club.
Thank you
for your support.
